Celebration of Librarians’ day, 2017

Objective:  Basic objective of the celebration is to pay homage to Dr. S.R.Ranganathan, the Father of Library Science in India and to aware the students about his contribution to the field of library Science. Date,Time,Place:  12^th Aug.2017,in the library premises of Duliajan Girls’ College. Department:  Organized by Duliajan Girls’ College Library. Participants Involved: Students, teachers and office staff of the college. Brief description/Summary of event:  It is the 125^th Birth Anniversary of Dr.S.R.Ranganathan,The father of Library Science in India. August 12^th is being celebrated as National Librarians Day in Indian in remembrance of National Professor of Library Science Padmashree Dr.S.R.Ranganathan, who had spearheaded library development in India. In a short programme today homage paid to Dr. Ranganathan by the Principal Dr.Lakhimi Phukon including with Vice- Principal Mrs. S. Borkataky, Librarian, respected teachers of the college and the students. At first, Librarian of the college Ms.R.R.Saikia informed about the importance of the day and talked few lines about Dr. Ranganathan and his contribution to the field of library Sc. in India.
