Celebration of Librarians’ day, 2018.

Objective:  Basic objective of the celebration is to pay homage to Dr. S.R.Ranganathan, the Father of Library Science in India and to aware the students about his contribution to the field of library Science. Date,Time,Place:  13^th Aug.2018,at the auditorium of Duliajan Girls’ College. Department:  Organized by Duliajan Girls’ College Library. Participants Involved: Students, teachers and office staff of the college. Brief description/Summary of event: Librarians Day is celebrated nationally on 12^th Aug. every year. This year, as 12^th Aug. is Sunday, therefore celebration was on 13^th Aug.2018.There was a huge gathering of college family in the meeting. At the outset librarian of the college Ms. R.R.saikia informed about the importance of librarians’ Day and also focused on the life of Dr. S.R.Ranganathan and his contribution to the field of Library Science. Homage was paid to this internationally famous person by teachers and students of the college. Keeping in tune with the celebration an essay writing competition was also organized among the students.
